Introduction
These are stories and memories to share, only as accurate or complete as I am able to remember. Still, I want you to know more about the people who helped to make life good.
I’ve lived through quite a few years now, and I’ve seen a lot of changes. From the Great Depression to World War II, from the rise of television to the digital age – each era brought its own challenges and opportunities. But through it all, three things have remained constant in my life: family, love, and work.
In these stories, you’ll find details about growing up in different parts of the country, about the jobs I’ve had and the people I’ve met along the way. You’ll hear about your grandparents and great-grandparents, aunts and uncles, and maybe even a Hollywood star I ran into during my time in politics.
I’m not trying to write a history book here. These are just my recollections. Some details might be fuzzy, and there are things I’ve forgotten entirely. But that’s okay. What matters about the stories is the people in them.
My hope is that by sharing these memories, you’ll get to know a bit more about where we came from. Maybe you’ll see a bit of yourself in these stories, or understand our history a little better. It’s up to you to take it from here. I love and support you in all that life brings.
